Review:

The first book written by the famous Christian blogger Tim Challies (challies.com) on the subject of Discernment is indeed a good book on the topic. Written for the general Christian reader, the book is engaging and teaches the concept of discernment in an easy-to-understand format, concluding with an example of practicing discernment by Challies on the topic of forgiving ourselves, in which Challies guides the reader through the discernment process with regards to this question himself.

As a topic, the need for discernment is clearly urgent in a climate of increasing heresy and apostasy in the Visible Church. Challies' book on this topic is clearly a book which soughts to bring the topic down to the general reader and help ordinary Christian learn the reason, heart, dangers, and the process of developing Discernment. In this, the book seems to have accomplished its goal of communicating and teaching the pressing subject of Discernment to ordinary Christians, in that the book was easy to understand and immensely practical.

This book is therefore highly recommended by the reviewer. Never has the need for discernment been so urgent as this present moment, and never has the Church been so unprepared for the onslaught. It is in this environment that this book is indeed written for such a time as this.
