Review:

This book by Roger Oakland is an excellent resource on the Emerging Church Movement and the other moments like the Purpose Driven paradigm that are contributing to the growing apostasy towards the New Spirituality aka the New Age movement/ Age of Aquarius. In this book, Oakland shows the beginning of this growing apostasy and traces the various threads within the growing Emergent spirituality or New Spirituality. He goes through each of the major 'pillars' of the Emergent/ Emerging Church Movement as it develops, which are

Compared to other books on the topic, Oakland's book is easier to read and very informative, and thus is good in the dissemination of information. And all these various issues of the Emergent/Emerging Church Movement are certainly much to be concerned about. As a revivalist post-mil bordering on Amil, I agree with Oakland that the current strain of Post-Mil teaching in Dominionism is heresy. The Kingdom is God is a spiritual Kingdom, not a physical one which is brought about by the efforts of Man in doing good, helping the poor etc, and not even forcing Christianity down others' throats. Elsewhere in chapter 8, Oakland talks about the growing ecumenism and interest in the Romish Mass or the Eucharist, and Rome's overt plan to convert the entire world to the "Eucharistic Christ" (complete with the 'Immaculate Conception' I am sure). Truly the darkness is growing. It is thus highly recommended that all Christians read this book and come to know the dangers of the times we live in, so that we can protect the Church and to minister to others who are caught up in this growing apostasy.
